JOB DESCRIPTIONS

2. Reporting to the Head of Laboratory Department, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible to work with the Laboratory Scientist and other staff on using lab equipment to study and analyze various samples and specimens to search for abnormalities and determine their causes, while maintaining lab safety protocols and documenting findings in lab systems. The incumbent will collaborate with other lab staff to achieve departmental goal.
3. The Laboratory Technician's duties include performing routine and specialized tests, conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments, preparing and staining slides for analysis, performing phlebotomy, recording testing information, cleaning and restocking the laboratory facility, keeping inventory, and ordering laboratory supplies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments
2. Planning, setting up and undertaking controlled experiments and trials
3. Recording and analyzing laboratory data.
4. Collecting, preparing and/or testing samples
5. Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning and testing sterility of the equipment
6. Providing technical support
7. Presenting results to senior laboratory staff
8. Writing reports, reviews and summaries.
9. Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments
10. Carrying out risk assessments
11. Ordering and maintaining stock and resources.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB

1. OND in Medical Laboratory Technology
2. Current license from MLSCN
3. Good Team Player
4. Good Interpersonal Skills
5. 1+ years proven experience as a Laboratory Technician
6. Computer knowledge is mandatory
7. Ability to work under pressure.
8. Strong communication
9. Customer satisfaction-oriented.

Special Conditions:

1. Employment is contingent on passing a medical screening conducted by the hospital
2. Employee will be subject to various testing including but not limited to drug and medical testing throughout the tenure of their employment
3. Knowledge of workflow processes.
