JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an experienced Small Boat Captain to manage and operate boats within Lagos waters. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining boat equipment, ensuring navigational safety, and overseeing crew activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain boats and on-board equipment, including engines, winches, navigational systems, fire extinguishers, and life preservers.
• Measure water depths using depth-measuring equipment.
• Monitor gauges to verify levels of hydraulic fluid, air pressure, and oxygen.
• Resolve queries and issues with marine officials.
• Signal passing vessels using whistles, flashing lights, flags, and radios.
• Tow and maneuver vessels or signal tugboats to tow barges to destinations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of various jetty locations within Lagos.
• Complete daily logs and checklists.
• Compute positions, set courses, and determine speeds using charts, plotting sheets, compasses, sextants, and knowledge of local conditions.
• Direct and coordinate crew members or workers in activities such as loading and unloading cargo, steering vessels, and maintaining and repairing ship equipment.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB

• Male candidates only.
• Must be under 45 years of age.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience operating boats in Lagos waters.
• Must hold a Quartermaster Certificate or its equivalent.
