The stress in getting good job in our nation nowadays is more becoming addressable and unbearable. The individual process of getting a job to many job seekers didn't come the same way, and the fact remains that none of these ways comes easy. Yet some people after winning the battle and eventually gotten the job, couldn't stay long because of many problems. So I will like to talk on one of the problem today and more of the reasons will come in my upcoming articles. Whereas, these problems are very cheap and easy to avoid but unfortunately many people failed in their new job because they aren't able to adapt to it ( the job) or the environmental situations or conditions of the job.
When you are seeking the job, there are many things that may not be discovered by the interviewers, therefore they did their best to put you their and start watching how you are going to handle their job. It is now left to you how you are going to adapt to, be the situation, conditions, etc of your new job. How do you now cope with your new job? Let us see
HOW TO ADAPT TO YOUR NEW JOB
Emerge yourself in company tradition: You should at all cost try to blend your self to the company's traditio or culture. This includes the rules and regulations of the company. The guild lines that cover operations in the office assigned to you.
Be Friendly or Build Relationship: As a new employee, you should start building relationship starting from your day one in the company. Some people even started creating relationships right from their interview days. This will enable you to know the company more and people, I mean your co-staff also will be able to understand you better, there are times that staff do recommend their partner may be for a promotion, how can you get such recommendations when people don't know you?
Have Positive Mind:- You need to see your job as an opportunity and a step to a greater future. All your thought concerning the job should be positive. Never have you think bad concerning. Even if you are not that satisfy with the salary you are getting from the job, you shouldn't allow that to stop you thinking in a positive direction. Sometimes ago I got a job like that but I put it behind me and never let it occupy my mind, and my employer was really impressed with my passion and in the third month of getting the job she increased my salary. It is better to withdraw/resign in such situation than to allow it to spoil your mind and handle the job carelessly. The implications is that you are the outer representation of what you have in mind. Whatever you have in mind will always reflect in your actions, so stay positive in your job.
Look For Mentor and Seek Advice:- This is very important most especially for the fresh graduate and inexperienced people. Unfortunately many of them doesn't take cognizance of it. There is no office in any organization that will not has a successor, if it is a newly established one, look for it among it's competitors. You need mentor to help or counsel you in that field. In other words, look for someone to put you through the right corner of your new job. Let them share the needed experience with you, of course you will not like to fall where they had fallen and where they have done good, you will like to do better.
Reschedule Your Time and Programs:- Before you get your new job, you definitely have your own way of life. The time you wake up and take your bath, the time you have your breakfasts, lunchs and dinners, the time you play with your friends, the time you receive visitors, the time you spent with your family, and so on. There's no doubt that your new job will change many of these things about you. Therefore, there's need for you to rearange your time and programs in a way that will sweet your new and will bring conveniency. In other words, discover your routine and master it. Never allow your domestic duties/assignment to affect your job negatively, most especially Laddies/women.
Set Targets:- There are two ways of doing this, first for yourself and secondly for the company. Lets me talk on the later first. How do you see yourself growing in that company In the next few months or years? What level do you imagine your self in few years to come? How productive are you to the company in a certain period? Setting goals always help to perform better and always bring improvements in any field. You also need to set goals for your own life. How are you going to spend your salary? What personal life achievements do you want for self base on your income? Set goals to meet these questions and many more.
Take Record:- As a reasonable human being, it is normal to take notes of whatever that is going on around you. The same way of life still apply when you are working in a company. Always take note of whatever that is happening in the company. The more you know about the company, the deeper and valuable you are. At times, this help to discover some of the problems that company is facing which is likely to have been happening before you even join the company and who knows whether you can be an agent of change to them.
Be Passionate in Your Work:- Increase your zeal/passion about your job, everyday. You must love your job otherwise success won't come. You can only be successful in a something that you keep your interest. Take for instance a student who hate any of his teacher can not understand what the teacher is teaching him. In the same way, before one can be successful in his/her job, he/she must have first of all see the job as a blessing to him and should work efficiently to protect it.
Increase Your Participation:- After being passionate, you always increase your participation. Let your performance increase every day. You may not know, someone is watching you and you never can tell when you will be recommended for a greater level.
